I am a licensed clinical social worker who welcomes adults and seniors for individual weekly counseling. Productive therapy happens when a solid, trusting relationship forms between client and therapist. My greatest strength as a therapist is forming that bond quickly with my clients so that we can identify and address the problem(s) together. Because this bond is so important to the therapeutic process, I provide an initial free phone or in-person consultation to determine if we are a good fit. I offer brief, problem-oriented therapy (6-20 sessions) or longer-term, open-ended psychotherapy.

If we decide to work together, we can determine whether your concerns are best addressed by brief therapy or long-term work.

I received my BA in Psychology from the University of Akron in Ohio in 1995, and my MSW from Smith College School for Social Work in Massachusetts in 2013. I have provided psychotherapy and medical case management in non-profit clinics for the last four years but am now pursuing private practice as a recent transplant to Portland from the San Francisco bay area.

Fees: My standard fee is $100 for a 50 minute session, but for those suffering financial hardship, I may be able to offer discounted fees. Please check with your insurance company to see if you have out-of-network coverage as you may be reimbursed for some or all of my fees.

Though I am open to working with any adult, the bulk of my experience has been with:

~ Older adults
~ People living with chronic illness, with specialty in HIV/AIDS
~ TG/GNC folks and/or their partners
~ Gay men

Areas of interest and specialty:

~ High functioning folks with Anxiety and/or Depression; Perfectionism
~ Life transitions
~ Gay men and aging
~ Identity Invisibility related to sexual orientation and chronic illness
~ Evolving/changing sexuality, gender, relationship identity including polyamory to mono shifts
~ Body image & acceptance – physical and sexual health at any age, ability or size
~ White racial identity and privilege work (based on work of Dr. Janet Helms and Dr. Robin Di’Angelo)

Please call me at 503-957-5947 if you have a hunch I might be the right therapist for you. We’ll talk for 10-20 minutes at no charge, and if it seems a good fit, we’ll schedule your first appointment within a week or two.
