I first developed an interest in becoming a therapist through experiencing the therapeutic process myself. The results of my own therapy led me to feel more “comfortable in my own skin”, a phrase I learned while attending Al-Anon and other 12- Step programs. I was energized by my own personal growth and recovery and hoped to find a way to give back and hopefully inspire others to invest in their own growth and recovery process.

I returned to school to complete my education as a Marriage & Family Therapist and began working at a women’s recovery program. At Mariposa Women’s Center in southern California I worked with a gifted team of clinicians who encouraged and inspired me as I honed my clinical skills as an individual and group therapist. It was during my time working at Mariposa that I realized the power of group process to accelerate the healing and growth process. I encourage anyone to give themselves that opportunity for growth.

More recently I have worked in the field of Early Childhood mental health as a professional in Head Start programs. Due to influences from the fields of recovery, brain development and attachment theory, I approach therapy from a client-centered perspective and work with you to develop goals that are realistic and achievable. You determine the pace. We explore relationships and events that have shaped your emotional world and take whatever time you need to “unpack” these stories. I encourage creativity during the process: art, poetry, journaling, music; as aspects of ourselves can only be expressed in this way. My desire for you is to experience relief, growth, self-respect and hope as a result of being in therapy.

My personal philosophy is holistic. What I mean by that is: all aspects of our life contribute to our sense of well-being. Work, recreation, relationships, eating habits, community, spirituality, etc., are all part of the balance (or imbalance) of our lives. There will be challenging times on a journey of self-discovery, but it will be worth the effort. I look forward to getting to know you and working with you.
