My name is Beth Kirkaldie and I offer a client-centered, practical perspective to help clients achieve their goals. I have a calm, casual presence and use a variety of theories including Cognitive-Behavioral, Strengths Perspective, Brief Therapy and others as needed.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with an MSW. I have worked with persons with disabilities for over 20 years in a variety of positions: Mental Health Therapist (QMHP,) Special Education teacher and Vocational-Transition Specialist. I worked for Portland Public Schools as a Qualified Mental Health Professional and in a Juvenile Detention Center working with adolescents. My focus is to help older adults, adults and adolescents implement the changes in their lives they would like to see. Ultimately it is up to the client to do the hard work, but along the way, I will offer encouragement, share observations, challenge and support you as you gain insights and make the changes you desire.
The quality of the relationship between counselor and client is central to making progress in therapy. I offer a complimentary initial consultation to be certain that the match is a good one. My hope is that if it is not right that I can help you find a therapist within our organization to meet your needs. If we continue, payment is expected at the beginning of each session. My fee is just $40 with a sliding scale for those who qualify.
