My role as a caring professional is that of accompanying people on their journey toward hope, healing, and change. I do this by creating a safe environment, listening, and helping to clarify issues and avenues of change through meaningful conversations. I find that once a therapeutic relationship is established and people feel emotionally supported, they begin to feel more hopeful and are then more able to reconnect with others and the world around them–creating more hope and motivation for change.
I believe in the resiliency of the human spirit and body to heal emotionally and physically.
I use an eclectic approach in my practice; utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, problem solving and solution focused brief therapies, acceptance and commitment (ACT), internal family systems (IFS), and mindfulness to name a few. I have also received specialized training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy) which has been proven very effective for people who have experienced trauma, EFT tapping, Grief work, and ADHD. Beyond my professional training, you will find me to be compassionate and caring with a good sense of humor and an ability to connect with people from all walks of life and ages. I have worked over the years to develop cultural sensitivity, and have worked with many different cultures, being most knowledgeable in the Latinx community. I provide Christian counseling for those who desire this approach.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the Oregon Board of Licensed Social Workers. I received my master’s degree in social work from the University of Denver and I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers. I have been practicing as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1987. I am a generalist who has practiced across the age span from childhood through elderly adults in community mental health, primary care and private practice.
The goal of my practice is to come alongside in partnership, helping people to use their strengths as they navigate the challenges they are facing.
If you are at a place where you feel you would benefit from connecting with a caring professional to accompany you in the healing or growth process, please give me a call. I will do a brief screening interview with you over the phone to see if we would be a good fit. Please call 503-740-1555
